Angeles Girl Scout Council
offers top rate adult volunteer training opportunities. Some are progressive (i.e.
learning how to serve girls as they progress in our multi-year program level).
Others are options that enable Girl Scout adult volunteers to enable our Girl
Scouts to engage in broader opportunities, taking on greater challenges and broadening
their horizons. All provide hands-on experiences in real-life situations in child
development, group management and planning that have great value outside of Girl
Scout activities. Trainings cover child development
benchmarks, planning, group dynamics, conflict resolution, budgeting and more.
The council conducts over 170 unique training courses each year, in addition to
the annual Leaders' Conference full of great enrichment workshops. Intro to Girl Scouts, BLT
(Basic Leader Training) and other courses usually are taught by volunteers. Angeles Girl Scout Council is fortunate to have great
"bench strength" with 22 Trainers, including 9 Master
Trainers. These
men and women are extremely enthusiastic, talented, dedicated individuals some
with over 30 years of Girl Scout experience. AGSC staff is here to help them when
needed. New Trainers are always welcome. (See Train
The Trainer program.) AGSC's Adult Volunteer Training
Program is ongoing throughout the year and is available at convenient times and
locations within AGSC's geographic jurisdiction. Please note our Training
Marathon condenses
many required and optional courses into one weekend’s time. The Annual Leaders Conference is also a great opportunity to share experiences and
learn new skills from other leaders. Fees are nominal, in keeping
with Girl Scouts policy of maintaing accessibility for every girl, everywhere
to have the support of caring adult volunteers in Girl Scouts. Training sessions may fill
up or change. Please confirm
dates, availability, times with Veronica
Jones, AGSC Administrative Assistant for Training (310 450-3720 ext. 107 or vjonesgs@angeles.org)
