• Arts

The National Museum of Women in the Arts with Girl Scouts of the USA have established a National Arts Initiative. AGSC offers two programs to help Girl Scouts explore the work and contributions of women in the arts and to achieve art-related Girl Scout badges.

Discovering Art: A Museum Guide for Girl Scouts – Designed for Brownie and Junior levels, the 23-page, full-color, self-guiding tour of the visual arts focuses on women artists, and introduces Girl Scouts to various types of art.

Project Pathways workbooks for Brownie, Junior, and Cadette & Senior Girl Scouts help fulfill Try-its, Badges, or Interest Project requirements with an emphasis on women artists, with information and activities for Girl Scouts to explore the world of art.

• Civic Leadership

Ms. President Patch is a Girl Scout project program that celebrates women who have paved the way through leading social and political reforms movements in the past, as well as teaches about women on the frontlines of government today.

Our Rights, Our Responsibilities is an international program for greater awareness of human rights and why they are essential. The program encourages girls to take responsibility for their rights and for the rights of others, leading to effective citizenship locally and globally.

• Diversity

Discover the World is for all ages -- focused on intercultural exploration and budget travel. Girls choose between activities such as trip planning and interviewing international travelers to participating in local volunteer projects.

Zink the Zebra has activities for all Girl Scout levels and promotes understanding and acceptance of human differences. The program helps girls realize the need to respect and show compassion toward others.

• Council Workshops

Earning GSUSA achievement awards (Try-Its, Badges, Interest Projects, etc.) is fun and rewarding. AGSC has teamed with Dalyn Development to create great programs that include math, science, arts, travel, environment, cultural diversity and entrepreneurship. For a complete list check www.girlscoutworkshops.com/, consult your Troop's Girl Scout Happenings or contact the Program Department.

Several program books are on loan via the Program Department ($5 nonrefundable resource use fee).

For more information on science, technology, engineering, and math projects, go the GSUSA website,
