Long
before computers, cell phones and astronauts … 1926, to be exact -- the Girl Scout Promise
and Law began to impact the lives of girls in our region. In 1965 Santa Monica Bay,
Los Angeles, Centinela Valley and El Segundo Girl Scout
Councils merged to become Angeles Girl Scout Council and, in 1968, were
joined by South Bay Council. Today, Angeles Girl Scout Council serves
families from Malibu down the coast
through San Pedro, and eastward from Eagle Rock through Downey,
encompassing 101 communities representing the region's vast
socio-economic and cultural diversity.

Since the earliest
days, in total, over one million girls have been able to “soar into
success” as Girl Scouts, a result of the caring and mentoring of over a
half million enthusiastic, dedicated, trained Girl Scout Adult
Volunteers and the community-at-large. And the times were always a-changin’. Progress was made at every “Good Turn”
and lots of fun was had by all. Girls Scouts went camping, sold Girl
Scout Cookies (except during the War Years ,
planned and did valuable community service projects and earned the
highest national achievement recognitions for their efforts.
