Each Girl Scout in Angeles Girl Scout Council is a member of Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA), our national "parent" organization, founded in 1912 by Juliette Gordon "Daisy" Low. The membership fee is $10/year per person (girl or adult), paid directly to GSUSA. Local troop and activity fees are determined by each girl's Girl Scout troop / group or by the Council for programs. No girl ever is turned away for the lack of her ability to pay membership dues.

Fact: There are four million members throughout the United States, including Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, and in more than 80 countries through USA Girl Scouts Overseas.

Girl scout groups may be sponsored by schools, organizations (such as temples,
churches, mosques, etc.), and other community agencies (such as public housing
and community centers). All activities are chosen, planned and undertaken by girls
under the guidance of their adult volunteer Girl Scout leaders in keeping with
carefully designed Girl Scouts safety and program standards, under the careful
administration of Angeles Girl Scout Council's professional staff.

Girl Scout troops and groups may involve girls of a wide range of ages, or all girls in a single program level (Daisies, ages 5 - 6 years; Brownies, ages 6 -8 years; Juniors, ages 9 -10 years; Cadettes and Seniors, ages 11- 17 years.) Girls may also participate fully in Girl Scouts at any age without a troop by becoming Juliettes.
