Membership Services & Outreach Initiatives

Access and diversity are key objectives of Angeles Girl Scout Council's Membership efforts. We want to insure that every girl, every where in our jurisdiction of 101 communities can develop the “courage, confidence and character to make the world a better place by joining Girl Scouts and taking full advantage of the full spectrum of Girl Scout opportunities.

Bilingual Leadership Mentoring for Adult Volunteers

Angeles Girl Scout Council offers bilingual (English/Spanish) recruitment, training and mentoring for first-time Girl Scout adult volunteers, especially leaders working in low-income neighborhoods. Special training is provided one-on-one by staff Leadership Mentors in the banking, budgeting and planning skills necessary to meet Girl Scout troop operational. Staff Leadership Mentors provide one-on-one support for volunteers starting troops, and mentors also work with these new volunteers at meetings and trainings.

According to “Site visit Report” on our Girl Scouts in Public Housing demonstration initiative conducted in 2005 for HUD and GSUSA, the project's strength is the recruitment and training of adult volunteers from within the public housing communities who in turn implement the program.  "The program's use of volunteer leaders is exceptional, based on the other public housing communities...."

First-Time Girl Scouts

No Girl Scout in your family? No problem!

AGSC’s unique “Introduction to Girl Scouts” is especially for families who have no Girl Scout legacy. All girls ages 5-17 are invited to join Girl Scouts at any time of the year. Parents and other adults without Girl Scout experience are encouraged to become Girl Scout volunteers. Our Leadership Mentors and other experienced volunteers are available to provide guidance.

Join Girl Scouts – we’ll lead the way!
