Get outside and play! Get outside and
learn!
In addition to our own extensive four-season Outdoor
education and ecology programs at our resident Camp Osito Rancho
facility in Big Bear, our Catalina Troop Camps and our Mojave Encampment,
Angeles Girl Scout Council is the portal to exciting national and regional
Girl Scout programs.
Southern California offers exceptional outdoor
getaways to teach girls about their stewardship of the natural environment,
how to enjoy sleeping under the stars in the desert and mountains, learn the
ways of the wind under sail and important ecological community service
projects.

Angeles Council’s fitness and
sports programs promote goal-oriented individual and team activities that
engage girls in the basics of motor skills and agility, throwing, catching,
volleying, batting, as well as those activities that emphasize fair play, cooperation
and skill progression that will serve girls for the rest of their lives.

GirlSports develops life-long health and
fitness habits, and has been particularly successful in increasing girls'
participation in sports nationally. A sports-readiness kit for Daisy and
Brownie Girl Scouts teaches the basics of motor skills and agility,
throwing, catching, volleying, batting, and more!
Fit & Fun is a component of GirlSports
aimed at girls 8 -11 years, emphasizes fair play, cooperation and skill
progression. Girls may participate in sports clinics through other AGSC
activities that help girls in their development.

Game Face is a national
movement promoting positive
body image and to help Girl Scouts achieve a balance between elite
achievement in sports and playing for the simple joy of participation.
it examines the gains in the profile and popularity of amateur and
professional
women’s sports over the last century. It encourages girls to experience the
encormous social, plysical
and emotional benefits of sports at all levels. Any girl can be a winner!

A great new "teen action" program for Girl Scouts ages
11-17 years comes our way from Generation Earth,
an environmental education program of the County of Los Angeles Department
of Public Works, presented by TreePeople. The
What a Waste program focuses on waste reduction and recycling issues, and
From the Streets to the Sea is a storm water pollution prevention program.
To obtain the booklets, patches, etc. for Generation Earth, contact Loyda Ramos, Program Coordinator, (818) 623-4856 or
lramos@treepeople.org.
